Withings lead the way at The Wearables 2015

Withings has been crowned Overall Wearable Winner at the Wearables 2015 awards this evening. Sponsored by IBM, The Wearables are the leading awards in the wearables market. Now in their second year, the eight category winners were unveiled at the Wearable Technology Show, the world’s biggest dedicated wearables event.

Withings – the creator of smart health devices – left with two gongs: Best Consumer Product and Overall Wearable Winner. Medical technology company Hocoma also faired well at tonight’s ceremony winning Best App, taking the runner’s up place for Best Medical Wearable and coming third in the battle for Overall Wearable Winner.

The Best Innovation Award was presented to Cambridge Consultants. For 50 years, the company has led the way in innovative product development and works with many of the world’s leading blue chips.

Best Medical Wearable was presented to Biovotion, a Swiss-based medical device company providing solutions for continuous, non-invasive physiological monitoring. Daqri – renowned for being the world’s leading augmented reality developer – unsurprisingly took home the award for best AR company. Daqri was also runner up in the Best Innovation category.

The winner of the Best Start-Up Business Award, which was decided at the Wearable Technology Show this afternoon in a fierce Dragon’s Den-style battle, is Elvie. Runners up were Atlas Wearables and Sports Performance Tracking. The shortlist featured Mosaikx, Gamar, Elvie, Active In Time, Ambiotex, Octagon Studio, Sports Performance Tracking, Augmented Pixels, Beast Technologies, Polar OLED, Atlas Wearables, Practech, PitPat Pets and Team Turquoise.

And finally, the Crunchwear Editor’s Choice Award was awarded to the Samsung Gear VR, with LG Moto 360 lifting the runner’s up prize and the Misfit Swarovski coming in a close third.

“The Wearables Awards find and recognise those companies with the best – and most improved – product or service offering in the past 12 months,” said John Weir, COO, Evolve, organisers of the Wearable Technology Show. “In addition to shining a light on the best products, they also reward the best wearable businesses, recognising those that have offered the highest level of innovation, performance and service over the past year. The level of this year’s entrants was outstanding. It was a hard fought battle and our winners really are the crème de la crème of the wearables industry.”
