This Watch Tells Time Exclusively Through Smell

If you had to get rid of one of your five senses, what could you live without? Sight might come to mind, but then you wouldn’t truly be able to appreciate the myth and majesty of characters such as Jar Jar Binks. You could say touch but imagine living your entire life without it. You’d turn to jelly. What about taste? Uh, one word, pizza. Hearing? Well, yeah maybe, but then communication may no longer be a breeze. That leaves smell as the most ‘useless’ scent. Could you live without that one? Yes? Not so fast, smart guy. Here’s a watch that uses that sense in order to, well, tell time.

It’s true. Here is the smartest watch of all, the watch that can smell stuff and somehow convert that smell into useable chronological information. Scent Rhythm, a new watch concept designed by artist Aisen Caro Chacin. Each of the four major hours of the day(12, 3, 6 and 9) is replaced with a corresponding smell. During mornings, espresso and caffeine greet the wearer of this astounding lil watch. Working hours are augmented by the smells of paperback books and tarnished silver. For evenings there’s whiskey and tobacco, and wafts of chamomile with melatonin supplement your sleep. All in all, that sounds pretty legit. Except it does kind of promote alcoholism.

Unfortunately, this is only a concept design for now. If you want to get all this watch has to offer, you’ll have to drizzle some espresso, whisky and, uh, tarnished silver on your wrist. Hey, that doesn’t sound so bad.
