LG Electronics have announced the updated version of their Watch Urbane smartwatch – with the key difference being that this is a watch that doesn’t need a phone!
Like its predecessor, the new stylish wearable device features a 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, and gets a larger display 1.38-inch P-OLED Display with a better resolution (480×480 vs. 1.3” 320 x 320 for the original Urbane).
This version of the Watch Urbane has a SIM card and a data connection, so you can use the watch entirely without a phone and even make and receive phone calls on it.The Watch Urbane otherwise includes the features and sensors you’d expect in an Android Wear watch. There’s a heart-rate sensor, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Its stainless steel body is water and dust resistant. The display can remain on at all times. And the battery, LG says, should last a solid day, if not a one and a half to two days.
On the software side, on top of Android Wear, the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition, provide quick access to shortcut settings such as contacts, LG Health and apps list, from the three physical buttons.
The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will be introduced first in the U.S. and Korean markets, and later in Europe, CIS, Asia and the Middle East. Price and availability will be announced at a later date.
