Garmin launches three wearables and mobile payment solution

Wearables specialist Garmin has announced a new range of wearables and a new smart payment system.

The new products are the vivosport GPS-enabled activity tracker, the vivomove HR hybrid touchscreen smartwatch and the vivoactive 3, a smartwatch with Garmin Pay, which supports Visa and MasterCard credit and debit cards. Garmin Pay is powered by FitPay, whose COO, Michael Orlando said “”Our team is extremely excited to be working with Garmin to enable Garmin Pay. The vívoactive 3 with Garmin Pay gives people with active lifestyles an incredibly easy and convenient way to pay without having to carry a phone or wallet – something anyone who runs, bikes or just leads a fast-paced life will love.”

There are two versions of the Vivomove HR available: the Vivomove HR Sport with a silicone wrist strap, and the Vivomove HR Premium which features leather straps and a full steel body. Straps are interchangable, and a selection of different finishes for the watch body include black, rose gold-tone and gold-tone.

Vivosport is a very lightweight device and very similar in build to Vivosmart 3. The large size weighs only 27 grams and the small-medium 24.1 grams. The case material is made of fiber-reinforced polymer which makes it okay to use for swimming. The always on Chroma display is rather tiny but its perfectly readable with a 72 x 144 pixel resolution. While its well suited for quickly glancing at your stats, you will need to head over to the Garmin Connect smartphone app for more detailed info. Vivosport is actually the first wrist wearable from Garmin to feature a colour display.
