Augmented reality applications are making a slow and steady incline toward mainstream acceptance. Every smartphone has some nifty AR-enabled apps. The same holds true for many home and portable video game consoles. This is a rapidly increasing sector of consumer technology that loans itself perfectly to the stuff we write about here. In short, wearable tech and augmented reality are sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G. Don’t worry. They bought one another dinner first.
The upward trend continues with this nifty DIY t-shirt that uses augmented reality tech to scare the beejeezus out of friends and family. An innovative designer out of Sweden came up with this shirt, which uses an iPad2 and the Unity 3D Game engine to make a bona-fide alien pop out of your chest. Not just any alien, of course. The Alien alien herself. Sigourney Weaver would be proud/terrified.
As you can see in the video below, the proof is in the despicably scary pudding. It looks real. This poor guy has a smirk on his face as an alien juts forth out of a gaping hole in his chest! Maybe he’s on a lot of pain medication. These things aren’t staying in Sweden, either. The designer has made it extra-easy to get your chest-burst on. If you want to scare the crap out of your friends, you can make one of your own shirts here. The instructions are easy enough.  You might want to give some of your friends and family a xanax before donning the shirt though.
